Scope Note
A transitory embryonic structure that appears during the 5th week post-fertilization. The ganglionic eminence plays an important in the development of the nervous system by guiding tangential cell and axon migration during embryonic development and give rise to BASAL GANGLIA and cortical GABAergic and thalamic and olfactory INTERNEURONS.
