Scope Note: An RNA recognition motif protein that is essential for SPERMATOGENESIS. It promotes entry of male GERM CELLS to MEIOSIS, possibly by regulating the translation of mRNAs. Deletions in these genes, including DAZ1, are associated with AZOOSPERMIA and OLIGOSPERMIA.
